50 Lessons on Capoeira, Teaching, and Life: Become an Inspiring Leader and Grow a Strong Capoeira Community:

"50 Lessons on Capoeira, Teaching, and Life: Become an Inspiring Leader and Grow a Strong Capoeira Community" book cover

50 Lessons on Capoeira, Teaching, and Life is not a book about capoeira techniques.

It’s a book about learning, discipline, and the quiet lessons that emerge from long-term practice — in the roda, in teaching, in work, and in everyday life.

Capoeira is the language.

Life is the subject.

About the book

“50 Lessons on Capoeira, Teaching, and Life: Become an Inspiring Leader and Grow a Strong Capoeira Community” brings together 50 short, focused lessons drawn from years of training, teaching, building projects, making mistakes, and starting again.

Each lesson stands on its own.

You can read them in order — or open the book at any page.

Some lessons are about movement and training.

Others are about habits, attention, responsibility, and growth.

All of them are practical.

None of them promise shortcuts.

What you’ll find inside

Who this book is for

This book is for you if you:

You don’t need to practice capoeira to read this book.

You only need to practice something.

Why capoeira?

Capoeira is more than a martial art.

It is a system of learning:

Over time, these lessons stop being physical — and start shaping how you think, work, and live.

This book explores that transition.

About the author

Alexander “Alex” Maltsev was born in the USSR and moved to China alone at the age of ten as part of a language exchange program.

Although he holds a bachelor’s degree in economics, Alex has been passionate about web development since his teenage years, creating numerous online projects. Some of these projects received international recognition and industry awards.

He began practicing capoeira at nineteen and started teaching at twenty-four, becoming one of the early pioneers of this Afro-Brazilian art in China. Today, his students teach in several Chinese cities, and his capoeira blog in China has gathered an audience of over 50,000 followers.

Alex has worked in major international internet companies and has managed multicultural teams.
He applies the principles and philosophy of capoeira to both life and work—especially in building strong, motivated teams and in his approach to personal growth and overcoming setbacks.

He has also introduced methods from business administration, management, and modern pedagogy to strengthen capoeira communities, improving organizational practices and teacher development—while preserving the art’s core principles of freedom, spontaneity, and autonomy.
